The name vullowisp came from the spirit "Will-o-wisp" which is a swamp gas thought to be caused by ghosts or magic. Vullo coming from the word vulpine which means 'fox'. Meaning vullowisps are magical fox like creatures.
Vullowisps are sentient beings and humans are generally afraid or dislike them. However all humans arent hateful, some even like, befriend vullowisps.
